Sinuses and Sims

Hello! The big news of late is that my husband had sinus surgery! He had been struggling with his breathing and sleep for years, and the NHS insisted they couldn’t see anything wrong despite the number of sleep studies, scans, and endoscopies. Well, Will then had it looked at privately via insurance granted by his job. They spotted that his sinuses were full of polyps immediately. So, he had to have a polypectomy up his nose and into his sinuses. It all sounds very terrifying and painful. Apparently one polyp was 7cm!!
I couldn’t sleep beforehand, and then I was awake for about 24 hours on the actual day. I slept for a couple of hours after he got home, but then I was wide awake and anxious again. So I had to take some Diazepam to get any sleep. But I think I accidentally took too many. My brain was moving at a literal glacial pace for days afterwards. Although I felt much better when Will got home, I was still scared that something might rupture and I wouldn’t be able to help, because it would be all up inside his literal skull. But everything was fine.

He feels like almost all of the dressing in his sinuses has dissolved and is doing well. And apparently he’s already breathing much better than he was before surgery. There’s a risk the polyps could recur, but hopefully they won’t. I’m hoping he’s beyond the stage where anything can open and bleed, because I would like to calm down, lol.

The Sims

I’m afraid I am back in another Sims phase. At the moment, it is Sims 4. I took much Pinterest inspiration for building a new house. You likely remember that, for years, we had a dog called Naboo on The Sims, because it was the auto-generated name for our first Stardew Valley dog, and we loved it and decided we would have a dog named Naboo one day. For some reason, I always thought it was a good name for a corgi, so I kept making future Naboo in The Sims as a corgi. Instead, God thought it would be funny if he was a random rescue dog from Ukraine who looks like a weasel. But he is very orange.

So, this time I was making Naboo on The Sims as his actual self. BUT. I fucked it up somehow. When we loaded into the actual gameplay, he was really really tiny! And I’m not sure I’ll be able to make him any bigger without a mod. But I have currently taken my mods folder out because one of them is broken and I haven’t figured it out yet. It does suck though because I had one for controlling the pets like any other sim, and actually knowing what they wanted lol.

This is where I last was in The Sims 4 and it was 2024 lol.

The original movie room.
I haven’t figured out how to make the roof off-centre to make it more MCM.
Some inspiring exteriors.
Tiny tiny Naboo.
Tiny tiny tiny.
Setting fire to the microwave immediately.
Original proportions were very cavernous.
Getting hair done at work.
Why is acting in The Sims more nerve-wracking than in real life? This image gives me a genuine pang of anxiety for some reason.
Managed to shrink things a bit but it still feels a little cavernous, especially in the centre.
I practice acting in the bathroom for some reason.
I am inspired by the concept of having a bath within the shower area, but I don’t know how to make that on The Sims lol.
I would also have the bath be a “Japanese soaking tub” that is so much easier to get in and sit in, especially if there is a door in the side. Again, these do not seem to exist in The Sims.
I also really like the wall niches in American showers.
Both of them sleeping like this.
I love the stars on the door handles.
Bathing Naboo, something we can’t do IRL because he has a phobia of water and freaked-out at the dog groomer.
Met a beautiful dog at the vet.
Also this one who was mad about stuff.
He was only there for fleas and a neutering but this made me sad, because it reminded me of everything he went through when he had cancer IRL.
Cone of shame.
It would be so lovely to live in a ranch house in the San Fernando Valley. Woodland Hills in particular is an area that has so many of these beautiful houses, but it is probably very money.
Bathroom has 2 doors to function as both an en suite and a main bathroom (you’d have to remember to lock both doors of course). IRL, we only ever use our en suite and the downstairs WC, and it’s so annoying dusting and cleaning the main bathroom when nobody goes in there unless we have guests. So I feel like we should combine bathrooms lol.
Although we don’t have a child in this save yet and I’m not sure if we will, I included a bedroom for them anyway. Although it has stuff in it for all different ages of kids lol, from toddler stuff to teen stuff.
Laundry and mud room thingy. Pretend the little metal tub is a dog shower that doesn’t exist in The Sims.
Example of dog-tub laundry room from Pinterest.
Garage needs more work, shelves and stuff. The cars are debugged in because 4 doesn’t actually have them, and likewise there are no garage doors so, (insert Carlos Oliveira voice): here’s a weird fuckin’ door!
I like to think this poster is of my sim having achieved something lol.
Will’s office.
The central area is combined living/dining/kitchen. These areas are separated in our IRL house, so we almost never sit at the dining table, because we like to watch things together during dinner. So I like to think we would sit there a lot more if it was possible to see the TV from the table lol.
WC bathroom near offices and movie room.
The Letti office. I would whack a papasan chair in that empty corner if, once again, they existed in The Sims lol.
Featuring vocal booth.
The lower kitchen cabinets are all deep drawers; I’m sick of putting plates in low cupboards, deep drawers are where it’s at.
The hall seems larger than it needs to be but I struggle with scale and spaces so much. And when you’re in build mode you can’t actually see how big people are for reference.
There is another MCM house in the neighbourhood which is a much more realistic size, but I don’t think it’s a functional lot so I can’t snoop for inspo.
Will was mad because he smelled.
Reading a book in front of the dryer for some reason.
And then in a bear chair. Why don’t sims stay still when reading books?!
Will catching fire from the dryer somehow.
And then I walked off in this outfit while he was still on fire.
Bro.
Will watching horror of his own accord in the movie room!
I’ve got proper Assaultron shoes lol.
And there’s a vampire billboard near our house.
MCM and Mid-Century are both architecture and decor areas that I enjoy, so I’m not fussed about whether something is “proper” MCM when chances are I just like it anyway.

Phasmophobia

For some reason, I decided to prestige again, resetting all my items and money. I guess because Prestige III is the last one that grants an achievement, so I don’t actually have to do it again. But man, I hate the tier 1 items, and I chose to do this right when an update and event is coming up, so I’ve been doing a bit of a grind to try and improve some of the items I’ve got. And I finally got the Doom Slayed achievement by dying to a demon in the first minute of the game; this is something that happened dozens of times before they made an achievement for it, but then after that it just stopped happening to me lol.

RIP Phasmo Letti. You have served me well since 2020.

I’m sad to lose my character in the upcoming update, but I know the devs want to move away from default Unity assets. Maybe I’ll be able to make someone similar to her.

I have a static page about Phasmo here and here was the last post about it.

This was another game we played recently. It’s a bit of a strange one! The horse . . . the horse.
He is so beautiful.
We had a power cut and I actually tried to squint at a book in candlelight. Eventually I realised our vent system would also have no power and I probably shouldn’t be inhaling that candle lol.
It has been very hot all of a sudden but sometimes, shoulders get cold.
I don’t know why I love making these little graphics.
I should’ve uploaded this one sooner lol.
I did in fact get a new sleep cap. And there’s a matching one in The Sims!
Vibes innit.
