My brain has left my body

Hello everybody; I must start by saying that, no, I still haven’t unlocked my dog yet. I could get the one from the shop using Atoms earned in game, but I don’t want to set it down in my camp and get attached to it, because I’m aiming for the white dog that looks like Freya. I’m about halfway there though and I’ve unlocked the plasma core recharger!

We’re also very ill lol, Will must’ve inadvertently touched a bunch of fomites at his work Christmas party because we’ve now got COVID. He’s having a very rough time with it, I’m doing pretty ok because I’ve been jabbed. Still feeling like absolute ass though and have spent a lot of time sweating deliriously in bed and having dreams about nonsense.

On a related note, the remasters of Soul Reaver 1 & 2 came out (I’ll do a proper post about that at some point), which I’m delighted by, but because SR is one of my favourite childhood games, I’ve been shocked by how badly I’m doing. Just don’t remember how to find anything. Now that it turns out we’re sick, though, it kind of makes a little bit of sense. Add to that, I’m overdue for my migraine botox, I guess that’s why I’m even more out of my gourd than usual.
I also feel like I’ve had another cognitive decline recently. Which sucks because my hormones have been improving a lot and I have noticed the difference in my body and mood. But every now and then my intelligence goes down a notch and just stays there. Which just happened again.

Anyway, this is a gaming blog.

I finally decided to experiment with a 2nd camp slot, because I had the itch to try and experiment with something more “realistic.” Like yeah, Butti the 3rd is in the Enclave, so maybe she had a bunch of Enclave Assaultrons come down from the Whitespring and weld her metal house together and give it indoor plumbing. Maybe.
But I was also like, what would a realistic house after nuclear war look like? You come out from spending 20 years in a vault, and what can you actually build to survive in? Probably not much. Even though it’s the future. Even if you can get planks of wood, how are you lugging them all to your chosen site and putting them together? It seems very insurmountable to me but also I’m bad at stuff.

I had also been put off of using the 2nd camp slot because I wasn’t sure if I would have to put my entire camp down again, like when you move it. But luckily, that’s not the case, everything just magically goes back where it was.

So I found a nearby flat golf course spot and built a little hut; you have to work in foundation squares, so it’s 4 squares big, which I think is slightly big for what you’d try and make IRL, but one square would’ve been too small, especially as you have to get a door in there somewhere.

It started like this, bigger than you need probably, and my stash box here is a bear-proof trashcan lol.
Originally stuck Beckett’s bar in the sand, wasn’t sure what to do with it.
Still haven’t found plans for clean bathroom furniture, or a sink, but at least there’s a kitchen sink lol. I also really want to unlock a room divider to help the bathroom area in both camps. I later removed the ammo and scrap boxes and just had them down in my shelter.
The initial outside.
For some reason this whole thing made Beckett get naked. Can’t he wash his pants in the stream or something? Also why don’t we have any bedsheets. Find a clean pack in an old store, sew something hideous, I don’t know.
Added a lil platform so the bar could be attached to the house.
Going in and out of my shelter made him put his clothes back on.

My main camp has also had a couple of changes recently. I had to get rid of my fencing because I just don’t have the budget for it. I also decided to use the Blackburn’s Bungalow structure as Beckett’s bar, and I’m not sure why that didn’t occur to me before. I go in there to play the tuba for my AP regen lol.

Beckett is basically there to be a stand-in for my husband, who doesn’t want to get into this game with me lol. He also gives me quests. But his bar doesn’t serve as an actual vendor, which seems stupid.

Why tho.
I want to unlock greenhouse windows for those slots eventually.

I’ve also since put a fence around the generator because mole rats keep attacking it.

I’m also grinding for stamps so I can unlock the jet pack for the Civil Engineer Armor. I need 300 of them and this expedition is the least tedious. I hate the ones with the plant monsters that heal themselves. But rescuing all the survivors and fighting trogs is a fucking pain.
This made me laugh unreasonably.
I wish we could display these because they look cool.
This guy gonna burn his own butt.

Obligatory YouTube dump

Thank you Vily for getting me these games.
Thank you Vily again for helping me do these.
My year on Twitch as a streamer. Still far from being able to make a living on it. But every little bit helps since I can’t work a normal job. Vily’s musical barrel clip was apparently the most popular.
My year on Twitch as a viewer.
Spotify was weirdly unhelpful this year in terms of genre.
Judging by volt.fm, these would’ve been my genres for the whole year. I dunno why Spotify decided they weren’t doing that anymore.

The playlist of mostly game music that I use for stream intros/ending definitely affected my results lol. My top artist was Mono Memory, who does Resident Evil covers.

And Instagram top 9, which I guess doesn’t include reels.

I can’t believe it’s the end of 2024 already, when it genuinely feels like Christmas 2023 was 5 minutes ago. I feel like I didn’t really accomplish much this year, it went by so fast. But at the same time, a lot happened. Aunty Sue’s funeral, Ozzy and Pickle dying, my inpatient stay. We actually have a flowerbed with plants in it. I restructured my Bucket List to include some other stuff we want to do.

I spent more time being exhausted and ill than I wanted. I’m 35 now and there’s still so much to do. But we’re getting there.

Christmas is usually a time of peace for us, even though we very strongly feel the absence of deceased loved ones, especially Freya. We get to spend a lot of time snuggled on the sofa as a couple. We just really like to spend time together, watching movies and having good food. And of course there are family and friend visits, and they often bring pets. There’s a hecticness but also a stillness.

I don’t know if this will be the last blog post of the year, but it’s quite likely. I’m still waiting for my Steam Replay to come out, and you never know, I might unlock my Fallout dog before the new year. Also I need to talk about Soul Reaver.

I hope you all have a nice festive Christmas. Thank you for continuing to accompany me for my gaming tomfoolery.
