Best babe, dog of a lifetime.Gorgeous net lights.I loved this little remote pointy thing in Tesco. It made me a cost-knowing wizard. This corner of the garden was very Pinterest!Enjoying a birthday frozen Kong. The bubble machine!I try to go all-out when hosting so I put a little bowl of hand and screen wipes out.
BBQ flames.A fabulous food umbrella. The speaker suspension works!Freya enjoying her birthday bone.Dan doing Dan things.
My bra was TOO HIGH and my top was too low! Probably literally would have been better going braless.
Will’s jalapeno creations for a 2nd year in a row.Smoking increases the risk of GENITAL HOLES.The fabulous blue cocktail that unfortunately makes Will very ill.I love this cooler and also our reusable ice cubes.Flamingo ring toss. I’m not sure this was ever actually properly played, but it was fun.I probably should have got the white-bulb version of this for effective lighting, but it was gorgeous anyway. I have no idea what Kadek was saying to me at the time.A useless sibling photo in the dark.
This was just the funniest thing I could think of at the time.
The garden was a huge mess the next day! I think everyone got a bit more casual about it when Will had to go to bed early. This also happened at the BBQ before last; the link seems to be cocktails made from Blue Curaçao; I love it but unfortunately it seems to make Will violently ill! He generally doesn’t get along with spirits, but he reacts so badly to this one that I think he might even be allergic to it.
It felt a bit weird running a thing without Will being there, and of course some things got out of hand, but overall it wasn’t terrible and at least he didn’t vomit on the mattress this time! I forgot to inflate the air mattress for the people sleeping downstairs though.
Big mess!Looking much better now. Even though I reseeded the lawn, it seems that any amount of people standing on it for a day will bald it right up again anyway.I used electrical tape to caution people about the solar light stake tied to the gazebo. I also made a hideous electrical tape creation to put over the washing line base that people often trip over, Will had tidied it today before I got a photo though.I apparently lit a fire! I did forget to add sprigs of pruned rosemary to it though, which was something we though about doing to make a nice smell. These look like they might finally flower, but not in time for anyone to see them. Some snacks. The catering-sized Philadelphia that Will got in for his jalapeno creations.I tidied the bathroom shelves!I was spraying for a leafminer infestation on our buddleia plant, and I noticed I’d accidentally given a baby snail a faceful of pesticide. So I rushed him indoors, rinsed him thoroughly, and now I’ve got him in Joop’s baby tub with some lettuce and cuttlefish to make sure he’ll be OK.I’m meant to release him in a few days but I kind of love him.If he were an adult snail I would have given him a thorough rinsing and let him go again, but because he’s a TINY baby, about the size of a quarter of my fingertip, I want to monitor him for a bit.Freya loves my bra. To clarify this wasn’t at the barbecue, but from last week sometime. My beautiful baby.My other beautiful baby!
Not sure what his flaps are doing there. Will brought me some flowers home the other day, they smell really nice and look gorgeous.
So aside from a couple of things going wrong, I had an absolutely amazing time as ever, I can’t wait to do it all again next year, and maybe even for a housewarming this year. Life is a bit all over the place at the moment but things are looking up.
We love you Freya
(even though I edited this video years ago I cannot watch it because I will cry buckets.)
