The 30 degree night

I suppose we’ve been quite busy recently. Biggest news is no doubt that I did my first Twitch stream! Painfully missed my usual summer TR marathons with people so decided to finally start streaming and at least be able to talk to them that way. Might try and get Discord working next time so we can hear them reply immediately rather than waiting for a delayed update in the chat.

We started with Tomb Raider 1, didn’t get the whole game done as we had time constraints but hopefully this weekend we’ll finish that, then we’ll do the Unfinished Business levels at some point (shorter but madder), then I’ll do Anniversary so people can remember the original levels for comparison, then I’ll do TR 2. Eventually I’d like to do every Tomb Raider game from all eras but Will does want to try streaming some other games with me before that.

Anyway, you can temporarily see our stream here, Twitch doesn’t keep them very long as far as I know.

Here are some funny moments (not sure I’m embedding these right):

Are you allowed to say that about the Queen?

Talking about how Atlanteans blow up when they die, but Qualopec, one of the triumvirate of Atlantis, had a skeleton in his tomb.

Many lions

T-Rex spoop

Bit nervous about linking to all that when I’ve still had no updates from the police about an issue. There’s nothing really personally-identifying on Twitch anyway, just bad gaming decisions.

I’ve learned that I’ve got to speak a lot clearer and maybe the game audio should go down a bit. There’s zero point in talking while shooting because it gets drowned out. The PC version of Tomb Raider also has hella loud whooshy ambient tracks. There was a point where I called Will “Mr. Obtuse” but it sounded like I was saying “Mr. Cheese.” Should probably put my hearing aids in next time also.

Some of these stats seem odd but ok.

(The “Korat” in my username refers to the gorgeous breed of cat and not the Thai province of the same name.)

Next biggest news is probably the time it stayed 30 degrees even at night. Normally in a heatwave it at least goes down to about 26 at night, but we even had a night that was about 32.

I’m sure there was other stuff I was going to talk about but I think I’ve forgotten it now.

I thought I put enough stitches through these at the time but they invert themselves when I’m wearing the bag.

Made this quick bottle holder, mesh came out wonky but I didn’t really understand the pattern to be honest.

It can hold cans too but it’s not advisable to put an open one in there.

Got a Starbucks at the drive-thru on a road trip with Gaye. Weird how sometimes I can be fine in a car and then the next day on a 5-min run to the newsagent I can feel really sick and go straight to bed with a thumping migraine.

I love this.

Also replaced my main medical bracelet but there’s not much more to say about that than I already said on Instagram.

Boring medical bracelet update: I got a new one from @theidbandco because I realised in the recent heatwave how thick and ridiculous my current one is. It takes up so much of my wrist! Plus when I had a medical emergency a while ago, literally nobody who saw me thought to look inside the band for the engraving. So I got this thinner one with an outside engraving; less info fits so I'll rely on people ringing up for my record, but it should look much less gaudy at formal occasions so I won't want to hide it in my purse (like I did at my own wedding!). The big thick purple one should still come in handy for things like camping where people are less likely to be able to reach MedicAlert. I also intend to get another official one from MedicAlert for super smart occasions, but in silver so I'm less likely to be allergic to it like I was the old one. 📿 #idbandco #medicalert #medicalalertbracelet

Aside from that, Bertie had a bit of an escape! My brother-in-law opened a window when he burnt some toast, and Bertie took the opportunity to leap out. He simply went around the house and then sat by the back door waiting to be let in, though!

We haven’t been here long enough for the cats to go outside, and we’re not sure if they’ll actually go out here as there’s a busy road nearby.
